Shane Kennedy

Shane is an energetic and enthusiastic youth and community worker, graffiti artist, Hip Hop MC, and wellbeing speaker.

Before co-creating UP&UP in 2014 Shane was an established graffiti artist with over 20 years’ experience creating commercial, residential and public artworks in Australia and around the world.

Combining art, music and culture has always been a passion for Shane. As a youth worker Shane has been designing and facilitating Graffiti Art Programs and Hip Hop music workshops with young people for over 16 years, working to engage and inspire young people of all abilities to recognise their own unique capabilities and strengths. Shane was recently awarded Youth Sector Worker of the Year in Newcastle at the Regional Youth Services Award. He was also nominated for NSW Youth Worker of the Year 2015.

As a community engagement specialist Shane has extensive experience in bringing people and communities together through creative engagement activities. Shane’s unique skills enable him to collaborate with a wide range of organisations from local councils, community groups and the corporate sector, assisting organisations to recognise, celebrate and employ the assets already existing within their own people, in order to strengthen communities and cultures.

Shane uses a celebration of Hip Hop culture – graffiti, music, storytelling, high energy, passion and honesty to promote self-expression and self-respect through his work. Shane is transparent in the work he does and this allows dynamic relationships when he is working with young people, members of the community, the corporate sector, colleagues and clients.

Shane’s work and life experience, which is about promoting creativity and self-expression has naturally lead him towards promoting wellbeing in others. Shane’s wellbeing talks aim to give people a sense of inner wellbeing and guide people in creating the life they desire.
